A Spanish court convicted former world number one tennis legend Arancha Sanchez and her ex-husband Josep Santacana on charges of fraud.
The four-time Grand Slam champion was sentenced to two years in prison, but avoided remaining behind bars after the court waived her sentence as a first-time offender.
The player reached an agreement with prosecutors to confess to the charges against her, the most important of which were tax evasion and concealment of profits and income in exchange for a reduced sentence.
Her husband, Josep Santacana, was also sentenced to 3 years and 3 months in prison.
The former spouses must also pay a fine of 6.6 million euros.
Sanchez, 52, won the French Open in 1989, 1994 and 1998, and the US Open in 1994.
