Fastest international goal

Christoph Baumgartner scored a goal for Austria just six seconds after the start of a friendly match against Slovakia, making it the fastest goal in an international match.

Baumgartner (24 years old), the German Leipzig player, started from the midfield circle, passed three players from the opposing team, and then shot a ball creeping to the right of the goalkeeper and into the net, amidst the astonishment of the Slovak fans, gathered at the Thelni Poli Stadium in Bratislava.

This goal was faster than the goal scored by Lukas Podolski for Germany against Ecuador in 2013, when he extracted the ball from a defender and put it into the net seven seconds after the starting whistle.

It should be noted that the match ended in favor of Austria with a score of (2-0).
