Press reports revealed that the 23-year-old Argentine striker Julian Alvarez refused to renew his contract with Manchester City, the English Premier League champion, and requested to leave the team.
Some close sources reported that Alvarez wants to leave Manchester City after only two seasons since joining from Argentine club River Plate for 18 million euros. The sources added that the player rejected the club's attempt to renew his contract for an additional year and increase his salary.
The same source indicated that Alvarez asked the club's management to allow him to leave and sell him at a reasonable price. The player's decision is attributed to his lack of regular and basic participation in the team, due to the presence of Norwegian star Erling Haaland as the team's main scorer.
Since joining the Citizens, Alvarez has made 103 appearances, scoring 26 goals and providing 18 assists.
