Paris Olympics: First doping case revealed

The International Testing Agency announced a positive test result for the 28-year-old Iraqi judo player, Sajjad Ghanem, to find out that he used “anabolic steroids.”

The agency, which is responsible for the anti-doping program at the Paris Olympics, said Ghanem had been provisionally suspended pending disciplinary action. "This means the athlete will be banned from competing, training, coaching others or participating in any activity during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games," the agency said in a statement.

Ghanem was scheduled to begin competing next Tuesday, but a positive test result has temporarily halted his Olympic career, making him the first Olympian to test positive for doping in this Games.
