Algerian discus thrower Oussama Khannoussi announced his retirement from athletics after participating in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This decision came after he was disqualified from the competition and was subjected to a campaign of insults against his mother, which prompted him to make this painful decision.
"Thank God, thank you to everyone who supported me in my sports career. Today I have decided that this will be my last competition," wrote Khannoussi, the African champion, on his official Facebook account. He explained that the main reason for his retirement was the insults directed at his mother after he was eliminated from the Olympic competitions.
It is noteworthy that Khanousi participated in many international championships and achieved great successes in his career, but the psychological pressures he was exposed to in the Paris Olympics were the main reason for ending his sports career.
