Spain renews the contract of coach De Lafuente

The Spanish Football Federation announced the renewal of the contract of national team coach Luis de Lafuente until 2026.
The Spanish Federation had unanimously decided to renew the contract of De Lafuente (62 years old) to lead the national team in the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
De Lafuente took over the leadership of Spain in late 2022, succeeding Luis Enrique after being eliminated from the round of 16 in the World Cup in Qatar by Morocco on penalties, and his contract was valid until the European Championship in Germany next summer.
De Lafuente led Spain to win the European Nations League title last year, achieving nine victories in ten matches under his leadership, compared to one loss against Scotland.
De Lafuente has been the coach of Spain's junior and youth national teams since 2013 and won a silver medal at the 2020 Olympics, so he has known most of the current senior national team players since the beginning of their careers.
