Embiid angers the French

The decision of basketball player Joel Embiid (30 years old) to change his decision to play for the French national team in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games sparked anger in the French media.

The player (2.13 m), who belongs to Cameroonian origins, applied officially to obtain French citizenship in 2021 to participate with the French national team, but he retracted his decision shortly before the start of the Olympic Games, and chose to play with the United States national team, which prompted media outlets. The French media launched a sharp attack on him.

Embiid, who has played in the American Professional League with Philadelphia since 2014, averaged 34.7 points and 11 rebounds this season.

It is noteworthy that Embiid can choose to play for three national teams: Cameroon, the United States of America and France.
