While on holiday in Greece, Borussia Dortmund player Ian Maatsen has been called up to represent the Netherlands national team at the 2024 European Championship in Germany, following an injury to Barcelona player Frenkie de Jong.
Due to time constraints, Matsen's father drove 6 hours from the Netherlands to Germany to bring his son's personal belongings, who had traveled directly from Greece to Germany, as well as the boots he would be playing in during the tournament.
This incident shows how committed and dedicated Matsen is to his country, as he hastily made a long journey to join his teammates and participate in the continental tournament.
It is worth noting that Matsen performed well with Borussia Dortmund last season, which made him one of the main candidates to join the Netherlands national team squad for the European Nations Cup.
