Brazilian legend Mario Zagallo, a 4-time world football champion with the Brazilian national team as a player, coach and assistant coach, has died at the age of 92.
Professor Zagallo won the World Cup twice as a player in 1958 and 1962, as a coach in 1970, and as an assistant coach in 1994. But Zagallo suffered from urinary tract problems that led to respiratory infections. Zagallo played a major role in raising the profile of Gulf football, especially with the Kuwaiti national team, which he led to win the Gulf Cup in 1976. He also had the upper hand in getting the UAE national team to the 1990 World Cup finals. In the period between 1981 and 1984, he supervised the Saudi national team.
