Kenya's Faith Kipyegon breaks her own world record

Kenyan runner Faith Kipyegon broke her own world record in the 1500m race, during the Paris Athletics meeting, one of the Diamond League rounds.

The 30-year-old Olympic champion, Kipyegon, clocked 3:49.04 minutes, 0.07 seconds off her previous record, which she achieved in Florence, Italy, in June 2023.

Kipyegon is one of the most prominent competitors in the Paris Olympics, which start on the 26th of this month.

The Kenyan star has previously won the gold medal twice in the 1500m at the 2016 and 2021 Olympics, in addition to the world title three times in 2017, 2022 and 2023. She also achieved a historic double last year at the World Athletics Championships in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, by winning the gold medals in the 5,000m and 1,500m races.
