Bayer Leverkusen achieves a historic double

Bayer Leverkusen won the German Cup for the second time in its history, after defeating Kaiserslautern from the second division with a score of 1-0 in the final match at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.

Leverkusen compensated for its harsh loss in the Europa League final against Italian Atalanta with a 3-0 victory last Wednesday, by winning the final thanks to a wonderful goal by Swiss Granit Xhaka in the 17th minute of a match that was completed with ten players since the 44th minute after the Ivorian player Odilon Kosounou was sent off with a second warning.

Bayer Leverkusen won the German Cup for the second time in its history, after the first cup it won in 1993.

With this victory, Bayer Leverkusen achieved a historic double this season, after winning the “Bundesliga” without suffering any defeat, an achievement that no one has ever achieved before.
