Frenchman Rudy Gobert, the Minnesota Timberwolves player, was fined by the American Professional Basketball League, $100,000, for criticizing the refereeing and making a gesture with his hand indicating that the referee had been bribed.
The decision came against Gobert, due to his behavior in the last seconds of regular time in the match, which his team, third in the Western Conference, lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers with a score of 104-113 after overtime.
The French player considered that what he did was a reaction to the increase in betting on matches, and its negative impact on the competition.
"It cost my team the game. It was an immature move," he said.
Micah Nouri, the replacement for sick Minnesota coach Chris Finch, described Gobert's move at a crucial moment as "unacceptable."
