Germany basketball team honored

Germany's men's basketball team, who won the World Cup, will receive the country's highest sports award, the Silver Laurel Leaf, from German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on July 17.

The Presidential Office announced that the team's coach, Gordon Herbert, will receive the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany during the reception ceremony in honor of his contributions and leading the national team to win the World Cup title for the first time.

The German national team won the World Cup title in September 2023 after defeating its American counterpart in the semi-finals and Serbia in the final.
