The Swedish Football Association announced the appointment of former Denmark striker Jone Dahl Thomasson as coach of the national team, becoming the first foreigner ever to take charge of the Swedish national team.
According to several sources, it appears that Thomason, who recently resigned from coaching Blackburn Rovers, competing in the English second division, has signed a contract that extends until the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and will be renewed automatically upon qualification.
Thomasson (47 years old) participated in 112 matches with Denmark, and takes charge of the Swedish national team, succeeding Jan Andersson, who left his position after Sweden failed to qualify for the 2024 European Championship, after finishing third in its group behind Belgium and Austria.
