James in the Lakers

Rising star Bronny James has joined the Los Angeles Lakers, bringing his father, superstar LeBron James, one step closer to fulfilling his dream of playing alongside his son in a historic first for the league.

Bruni, 19, was selected to join the Lakers and was informed of the decision by the team's general manager, Rob Pelinka, during a phone call.

Never before have a father and son played on the same team in the NBA.

Rooney is not expected to feature much in his first season with the team, but it will certainly be an emotional moment when he appears on the pitch alongside his father, the tournament's all-time top scorer, for the first time.
