For the third year in a row, Poland's Iga Szwijontek, ranked first in the world, was able to maintain her title at the Doha International Tennis Tournament, after defeating Kazakhstani Elena Rybakina IV, 7-6 (10-8), 6-2 in the final match.
Sheviontek (22 years old) became the first player in 9 years to win a tournament title three times in a row, specifically since American legend Serena Williams won her third consecutive title at the Miami Open between 2013 and 2015.
She won the eighteenth title in her professional career, and her first in the 2024 season. Her only defeat in the last 23 matches was against the young Czech Linda Noskova, in the third round of the Australian Open, the first of the four major tournaments, last month.
