Christian Streich (58 years old), coach of the German club Freiburg, announced his retirement from coaching at the end of the current season. Streich is considered one of the best coaches in the Bundesliga and has the second longest career as a coach with a team, which extended to 12 consecutive seasons after Heidenheim. Streich led his team four times to participate in the European Championships, and also reached the German Cup final for the first time in its history.
Julian Schuster's name has emerged as a "favorite" candidate to take over the task of supervising the team instead of Reich next summer.
Schuster, (38 years old), the former captain of Freiburg and who currently works as a coach in the club’s academy, obtained the necessary license to coach, but he has not yet coached at the higher levels.
