American swimmer Bobby Fink shined again at the Paris 2024 Olympics, winning the gold medal in the 1500m freestyle and setting a new world record. Fink finished the race in 14 minutes and 30.67 seconds, breaking the previous world record held by China's Sun Sang from the 2012 London Olympics of 14 minutes and 31.02 seconds.
Italy's Gregorio Paltrinieri came in second, taking the silver medal, while Ireland's Daniel Wiffen took the bronze medal, adding to his gold medal in the 800m freestyle that he won at the same Games.
With this achievement, Fink maintained his title in the 1500-meter race that he won at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, and added the gold medal to his silver medal in the 800-meter freestyle race that he won last week in Paris.
