Olympic champion in the 400m hurdles, American Sydney McLaughlin Lovron, recorded the best time this year at 52.70 seconds, at the Atlanta Athletics Meeting.
This is the first time since July 2023 that the world record holder (50.68s in the 2022 World Championships) has competed in this race, after her return to competition on April 20.
Her record in Atlanta was more than a second ahead of the previous best this year, set by Jamaican Rachel Clayton (53.72 seconds) on May 11 in Kingston, Jamaica.
