Manchester United and City agreed to object

English media sources reported that Premier League clubs agreed in principle to implement a maximum spending limit after obtaining majority support, and a final vote is expected to be held next June.

The clubs initially agreed to set a limit on the amount the clubs spend, and the decided maximum will be the amount of money achieved by the least profitable club in the league from television broadcasting rights.

This measure was discussed at the English Premier League shareholders meeting in London, adding that the cap could come into effect by the 2025-2026 season.
It was learned that 16 clubs voted in favor of the new project, with Chelsea abstaining from voting and Manchester City (the defending champion), Manchester United and Aston Villa objecting, because they are among the clubs that spend the most on buying players in the world.
