Luc Flores is killed during a robbery

Kaizer Chiefs South African football defender Luke Flores was killed during an armed robbery of his car at a gas station, his team and local authorities announced.

According to close press sources, Flores was subjected to an armed attack during an attempt to kidnap him and his car, and he sustained several gunshot wounds to his body, which led to his death.

According to the police, the 24-year-old player, who wore the shirt of his country's under-23 national team, was waiting to be served inside his car when two armed men arrived and tried to steal his car. The suspects then threatened him with a gun and took him out of the car, before shooting him in the upper part. From his body, Flores was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Chiefs is one of the largest football clubs in the country. It has won the league title 12 times, has a record number of local titles (53), and reached the final of the African Champions League in 2021.
