A British boxer dies in his first appearance

British middleweight boxer Sherif Lawal died after falling in the ring during his first professional fight.

The British Boxing Council issued a note of condolence after the fight organizers announced the boxer’s death at the age of 29.

Media reports stated that Lawal injured his temple during the fourth round of six scheduled rounds in his fight against Portuguese Malam Varela at the Harrow Entertainment Center in London.
