Sportsman Beirut officially announced his withdrawal from the Lebanese Basketball Cup competitions, in order to focus on the Lebanese League Championship and the Wasl Championship.
The club president sent a message of thanks to Al Riyadi fans for their support for the team after the sanctions imposed on it by the International Basketball Federation following the riots that took place in Al Riyadi’s last match against Al Hekma in the semi-finals of the West Asian Basketball Championship “Wasl”.
Tabbara said that the athlete incurred severe fines (50,000 Swiss francs), noting that he demanded an expansion of the investigation into the events of the Al-Hikma match.
Tabbara revealed that the volume of donations received by the club’s fans did not fully cover the value of the financial fine due to its magnitude.
He explained that the athlete will continue to play in the Nihad Nofal Complex Hall, which hosted the last Al-Hikma match, stressing that the athlete has fans throughout Lebanon and the Arab world and will play in any stadium in Lebanon normally.
