Salwan Sader is the first Lebanese to obtain a PhD in Sports Law

Lawyer Salwan Sader has achieved a distinguished academic accomplishment by obtaining final approval from the Higher Institute of Doctorate at the Lebanese University for the year 2023-2024, to be the first to prepare a state doctorate thesis on international sports law, which is the highest academic degree that qualifies its holder to teach at the university.

Sader passed strict acceptance stages that included studying his academic file, a written test, and an oral discussion before the Scientific Council, topping the list of competitors. The thesis is supervised by Professor Joseph Rizkallah, and covers international Olympic sports issues in a precise scientific legal style, which contributes to the development of the Lebanese legal library and opens the way for the establishment of a master’s department specializing in sports law.

It is worth noting that Salwan Sader is an experienced lawyer and holder of a black belt in Taekwondo. He also published the first sports law book in Lebanon, reinforcing his pioneering role in this emerging field.
