Verstappen equals Senna's number

Dutchman Max Verstappen, driver of Red Bull, equaled Ayrton Senna's record by achieving pole position eight times in a row, after setting the fastest lap in qualifying for the Emilia Grand Prix, which is held in Romania within the Formula One World Championship.

Senna achieved the record in 1988-1989 when he was a McLaren driver. Verstappen's career began in the final Abu Dhabi race of last season, in addition to the first 7 races of this season.

McLaren's Oscar Piastri came in second place, but race stewards are investigating the possibility of the Australian driver hindering his rivals in the first round of qualifying.

Lando Norris, winner of the Miami Grand Prix, finished third for McLaren, ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, who will complete the second row.
